Tough race for Erika

Ninth place for Manx walker

Athletics - Erika Kelly overcame tough conditions against a strong home field in the Commonwealth Games Women's Race Walk final earlier.

The 25-year-old battled 29 degree mid-morning heat on Australia's Gold Coast.

She held strong with good pace for the first 15km, but had slipped back to ninth by the finish line with a time of 01.47.29.

Australia's Jemima Montag won gold, with Wales athlete Bethan Davies taking bronze.
