Marown strike late equaliser to salvage title hopes

Marown 3-3 Castletown

Marown's Ashley Higginbotham scored a last-minute equaliser to rescue a point against league leaders Castletown, leaving the second tier title race hanging in the balance.

The hosts led 1-0 at the break through Connor Gilbert's strike, but a cagey first period summed up the mood.

Jamie Cadwallader struck back for the visitors before a frantic final half an hour that produced four more goals.

Marown regained the lead through lethal front man Stuart Morris, before Alex Crawley levelled from the sport for Town.

Castletown - promoted to the Canada Life Premier League on Tuesday - knew a win would be enough to see them go up as champions.

And it looked as if it was going to be their day when Ciaran Brown gave the visitors the lead for the first time in the contest.

Moments before the referee blew for full time, though, and Higginbotham burst the Town bubble by making it 3-3 at the death.
