Island's first extreme sports festival to be held at Poulsom Park

The ManX Games aims to introduce young people to different sports

Alternative sports are taking place this weekend as the Island's first extreme sports festival – ManX Games - gets underway in Castletown.

Founder Jimmy Cubbon wants to shine a light on different sports that often have a low profile.

It’s hoped the event at Poulsom Park will expose young people to something new with hopes of developing the sports at a grassroots level.

Jimmy, who is also the director of the Castletown Parks Charity, told Rhian Evans there were a few reasons behind the event:

ManX Games is free and will include demonstrations from the Youth Motorcycle Trials, Youth Motorcross and Downhill Mountainbike clubs, plus the Shred House is hosting skateboard, BMX, and scooter jam sessions at Castletown Skate Park.

You can find a full timetable below:

There'll also be bands and drink vans on offer to give the weekend a festival vibe.
