Men's side take win with ladies narrowly beaten in close contest

The Isle of Man's men's and women's hockey teams have put in strong displays during their latest fixtures in the England Hockey Knockout Championships in the UK.

On Saturday (7 January) both sides travelled to Yorkshire with the women's squad competing in the Tier 3 women's class whilst the men's team were taking part in the Tier 2 Men's category.

First up were the women's side who faced Leeds Adel 2nd XI.

In a closely-fought game between the two sides, it was Leeds Adel who took a late 1-0 victory, scoring from a penalty corner in the final five minutes of the game.

Next, the men's side took on Leeds Adel Men's 1st XI and went on to progress to the third round with a 3-1 win over the Yorkshire club.

The Island squad led 2-1 at half time courtesy of goals from Jonny Callow and Callum Robb before they made sure of the victory with a third and decisive finish from Elliot Reid.
