History made in the Locate.im Sidecar TT Race 2

Birchalls record first ever sub-19 minute lap

The Birchall Brothers have won the three lap Locate.im Sidecar TT Race in recording breaking style.

At the end of lap two, history was made as the pair from Mansfield recorded the first ever sub-19 minute sidecar lap with a time of 18 minutes, 59.018 seconds, a speed of 119.250 miles an hour.

They broke the race record as well and made it five TT wins in a row.

Ben Birchall told Chris Kinley it had been a tough race:

John Holden and Manx passenger Lee Cain, who took an early lead on lap one, finished in second with Tim Reeves and Mark Wilkes making up the podium in third.

Manx crew Dave Molyneux and Dan Sayle stopped at Quarry Bends on lap three to make adjustments before starting again but were forced to pull in just down the road at Sulby Bridge.

Meanwhile local fundraising pairing Nigel Smith and Chris McGahan were forced to retire at Quarterbridge on lap two.
