Tough conditions greeted squads at City of Newcastle course this week

The Isle of Man senior golf squad battled tough conditions during their latest Northern Counties qualifying campaign this week.

Six players made up the Manx team in the form of Gary Ashe, Andrew Hudgeon, David Kinrade, Julian Sutton and Keith Ward at the City of Newcastle Golf Club on during Tuesday (10 September).

Following the two rounds of the event the Isle of Man finished seventh in the standings on 815 whilst Durham took victory at the other end with a tally of 742.

Durham claimed top spot just three shots clear of Northumberland in second (745) whilst making up the top three in third was Lancashire (755).

The tricky conditions meant sub-par rounds were at a premium with the Island squad's best scores during the morning session coming from Kinrade and Sutton on three-over-par and five-over-par respectively.

Sutton repeated then repeated that score to be the Island's standout performer in the afternoon.
