Fellow Manx rider McCanney takes second place

Manx enduro rider Jed Etchells has been crowned 2023 British champion following the final round of this year's series in Yorkshire.

In the eighth and final stage held at the weekend in Catterick (16-17 September), Etchells topped the standings for the round to finish the campaign on 143 points.

That overall score sees him finish the campaign ten points clear of fellow Isle of Man contender, Daniel McCanney, who also impressed throughout the series to take second spot overall on 133.

In turn, McCanney finished a notable amount of points clear of third-place competitor Thomas Sagar on 90.

As well taking the top two spots during the full series, Etchells and McCanney locked out the top two positions in all of the last four rounds.

That included rounds five and six held on the Isle of Man from 9-10 September with Etchells winning ahead of McCanney in the first of those before the positions were swapped in round six with McCanney taking the honours.

Elsewhere there was more Manx success in the series as Mark Turner secured the title of Expert British Enduro Champion as he bagged 141 points throughout the campaign ahead of Ross Danby in second (134).

Meanwhile, the Isle of Man's Robert Moyer took home the Clubman championship title after earning 155 points over eight rounds, some distance clear of second-placed Tommy Grimmer (116).
