Douglas South make a late bid for Manx Trophy

Douglas North lose by three points

Going into the game, Douglas North had an opportunity to claim the Manx Trophy however Douglas South clearly hadn't read the script and snatched a win with a last-minute Will Cain penalty to make the Trophy a three-way fight. North took the lead with an early Kyle Martin try and when Charlie Henthorn crossed shortly afterwards they looked to be in charge. Ralph Clark and Christian Moore then both struck for South to level the game before Kyle Martin’s second gave North a 17-12 half time lead. In the second half John Dutnall equalised for South and the game headed for a 17-17 draw. In the final minutes Jack Shimmin and Bryn Snellgrove both missed kicks for North before Will Cain’s match winning kick in the final play of the game.
 
At the Mooragh Park, Vagabonds dominated Ramsey and picked up a bonus point win to keep their outside chances alive. Tries from Chris Kay, Nathan Gibson and Mark Oldfield plus three Luca Simmons conversions saw Vagas lead 19-5 at half time, with Rory Nicholson crossing for Ramsey on his birthday. In the second half Luke Purdy secured Vagas’ bonus point before a late Ramsey fight back saw Rory Nicholson picking up his second plus a try from Kieran Kneale and a Dan Bonwick conversion.
 
In the Manx Bowl, Ramsey B beat Vagabonds Hornets 47-12 at the Mooragh Park. Jake Richmond ran in a hat trick for Ramsey and there were also tries from Abuu Migoda, Owen Bevan, Jared May, Tynan Pritchard, Jim Lantry and Ali Kennaugh, plus a conversion from Darragh Pilkington. Chris Neill and Ben Swindlehurst went in for Vagas with Tom Rowley converting one.
 
Western Vikings put in a big score against Castletown at QE2 with an 89-5 win. Liam Sweeney, Ed Knight and Sam Tarpey all picked up hat tricks for Vikings who led 57-5 at the break after a blistering first half. Prop Josh Hockney ran in two and there were also tries from Harry Goodwin, Jack Goodwin, Peter Beaumont and Ciaran Stephens with Ryan Burke converting seven. Kunal Patel scored Castletown’s solitary try.
 
Vagabonds Ladies lost 78-52 to Emerging Nomads at Ballafletcher. Tony Quinn bagged three for Nomads, Harry Brereton and Harry Whitehouse both scored two and there were also tries from Finn McGregor, Simon Chadwick, Dan Bridle, Jake Walmsley, Janine Cubbon, Mike Craine and Harri Wallis. Messrs Quinn, Whitehouse, McGregor and Wallis all added conversions. For Vagas, Sophie Henry ran in three there were two from Maylyn Campbell and Alanna Pritchard and one each from Beckie Dunn, Daisee Sewell and Jo McCabe.
