Cricket latest - Development XI go top

Castletown, Cronkbourne and Valkyres also win

Cronkbourne returned to form at the weekend when they beat Peel and St John's by 19 runs at Mullen-e-Cloie.

Cronkbourne batted first after winning the toss and their top three batsmen were in good form - Max Stokoe top-scored with 87 and Corbin Liebenberg contributed 55.

Nathan Knights demonstrated his big hitting with 4 sixes in an innings of 36.

Ollie Webster hit 125 for PSJ, but they finished all out for 228 in the 37th over.

There was another exciting game at Crosby when Valkyres visited the Memorial Playing Fields.

Valkyres chose to bat and they started slowly, but picked up the pace latterly and ended on 172 all out.

Crosby started well, but once Valkyres sorted their bowling out things became more difficult for the hosts.

Ultimately, they fell three runs short.

Castletown enjoyed a fruitful trip to the north when they beat Ramsey by 107 runs on Saturday.

Their top order batted well, with Jaco Jansen scoring 44 before he was forced to retire with an injury and Tom Kennaugh hitting 54.

Ramsey faltered in their response and were all out for 85 in the 28th over, as they chased Castletown's total 0f 192.

And the Development XI had a big victory over Finch Hill at Mullen-e-Cloie, winning by 144 runs.

George Burrows hit 93 for them for the second consecutive innings.
