Small fall in Island's unemployment figure

Rise in job vacancies in April

The number of people seeking work in the Island fell in April.

The total was down 29 on the March figure, but five higher than the same month in 2022.

The latest total represents 0.6 per cent of the Island's economically active population.

There were 852 job vacancies at the Island's Job Centre in April, that's a rise of 41 compared to March. The jobs offered were split 50/50 between full and part-time posts.

Of the total unemployed the majority were males at 169. Ninety-three were female.

The sector with the most job vacancies was catering and entertainment at 149, just one higher than medical and health services.
