Sinking boat in Douglas North Quay

Pumps used to clear water from hull

Emergency services were called to reports of a sinking boat in Douglas last night.

Teams from Isle of Man Harbours and Douglas Coastguard, along with fire and rescue teams from Douglas Fire and Rescue attended North Quay just before 6pm.

They used high volume 'ejector' pumps to get the water out of the hull, which gave them time to make repairs to stop more water getting in.

Booms were also deployed in Douglas Harbour to contain an oil and diesel spillage.

The operation lasted about around an hour and no one was reported as injured.
