Shielding advice dropped and indoor construction resumed

Number of lockdown restrictions eased today

A number of lockdown restrictions have been eased today, including the official end for shielding.

That means clinically extremely vulnerable people no longer have to stay at home all the time. So they can now go for a walk or visit a shop.

People who have been shielding are asked to contact their employers so measures to make their return to work as safe as possible can be put in place.

Elsewhere, indoor construction work can resume, hardware stores can reopen for face-to-face trade and estate agents and surveyors are allowed back into properties.

Viewings of occupied properties are still prohibited.

Schools are reopening for teachers today, primary schools will welcome back vulnerable children and those whose parents are key workers tomorrow, and secondary for certain pupils in years 11 & 13 with work assessments to complete before summer.

In all settings, people need to continue observing social distancing and government is encouraging other mitigations including the use of face-coverings.

Outdoor leisure and sports venues can also reopen.

The rules are unchanged for gatherings, meaning you can still meet in a group of up to 10 outdoors, but you can't go inside.

And visiting people in care homes is still not allowed.

One new case of Covid-19 was identified on the Isle of Man over the weekend, from a returning traveller already in self-isolation.

The number of active cases has now fallen to 49.

Meanwhile, there is nobody in hospital with the virus.
