Rex the dog back in court

Hopes for an end to lengthy tale

The case of Rex the dog is set to go to court yet again at the start of next month.

Rex was brought to the Island at the end of 2016 - under foster care, with a view to being homed.

During a visit to the vet in January 2017, he was reported to authorities after concerns he could've been a pit bull type breed.

Rex was then taken back to the south east of England a couple of months later - nearer to his previous owners, Last Hope Rescue charity in Essex - as his ownership hadn't been officially transferred.

The dog has been in custody since, the first eight or nine months in Police quarantine kennels, before then being released into the care of the charity.

His case was initially thrown out of court by the Crown Prosecution Service, but Essex Police continued the case through a private prosecution.

If magistrates in Essex find in Rex's favour, he could be returned to his Island owners immediately.

Sue Critchley from the Mann Cat Sanctuary is one of those waiting with baited breath for the outcome.

Last Hope Rescue, the charity which is fighting Rex's case, has a PayPal Account (http://paypal.me/lasthopeanimalrescue) and Online Giftshop (https://store12377162.ecwid.com) for those wishing to help out.

They are also doing raffles and football cards for Rex, all of which is available on the Last Hope Rescue Facebook page.
