Retailers urge shoppers to 'be considerate'

Message comes after reports of panic buying

Island retailers say there are 'extensive plans in place' to deal with disruption and ensure shelves are stocked with food, medicine, and household essentials.

A number of Island firms have released a joint statement to reassure customers.

They've stressed that the UK has been under varying stages of lookdown for many months, and supply chains there have remained stable.

It comes after reports of panic buying in supermarkets across the Island earlier this week.

Retailers including Shoprite, Tesco and the Co-op, are urging shoppers to be considerate and 'buy normally', with plenty of stock in place.

It's to ensure staff and customers, including the most vulnerable, are safe, and can 'continue to get what they need'.

Though not mandatory to enter a store, they say face coverings are 'strongly recommended' in public places.

Logistics companies and the Steam Packet say robust plans are in place to ensure freight will continue.
