Ramsey flood defence plans on display today

Commissioners unhappy with granite and parking issues

Ramsey residents are being given a chance to see what flood defences to protect the town against rising sea levels could look like.

Plans by the Department of Infrastructure for a concrete wall, reconstructed road, and new footpaths are on display in the Ramsey Town Hall today.

Local commissioners don't support the proposal, having felt their feedback on loss of parking and use of granite had been ignored by the department.

Ramsey is the highest risk area in the Isle of Man for flooding, according to a report by engineering consultants ARUP.

A member of the Department of Infrastructure's design team will be on hand to discuss the plans on Friday between 10am and 2pm.
