Public urged not to attend Tynwald Day ceremony

President asks Manx residents to celebrate national day at home

There's no ban on the public attending this year's Tynwald Day ceremony, but locals are "strongly encouraged" to stay at home.

That's the message from President of Tynwald Steve Rodan after it was confirmed only the essential parts of the day will be going ahead.

Members will still sit on Tynwald Hill, albeit with social distancing in place, but petitioners won't be able to present their documents in person.

Mr Rodan is urging the crowds to stay away:

Manx Radio will be broadcasting the event in it's entirety, and taking the live video stream on our website and Facebook page to ensure the public can still celebrate at home.
