'Pressures' on testing system as hundreds call for PCR tests

Health minister says new rules will ease demand on 111

The health minister says removing the need for close contacts of Covid cases to get a PCR test will ease pressure on the Island's Covid testing system.

Over the weekend around 1600 people are said to have called the 111 line to book appointments.

At the Grandstand testing centre itself many people have been waiting for more than an hour as queues stretched around the grounds. 

David Ashford says procedures in 111 will also change to speed the testing process up, and the effects of the new rules are already starting to show:
