Police warn of 'pet fraud' across Island

People asked to take care when looking for new animals

People looking for a new pet during lockdown are at risk of being tricked out of their cash.

That's the warning from Island police after reports of criminals taking advantage of the coronavirus pandemic.

Action Fraud in the UK has reported that almost £300,000 has been taken in deposits from aspiring pet owners, in the last two months.

In a post on social media, officers say the issue is here on the Island too and people need to be extremely careful.
