Police granted extra time to question two suspects

No 'explosive risk' at property in Pairk Beg

Police have been granted additional time to question two people arrested in connection with an incident in the south of the Island.

The two individuals, who were detained in Port St Mary, remain in custody and are said to be continuing to ‘assist with inquiries’.

The Isle of Man Constabulary says the use of specialist bomb disposal colleagues was to ‘ensure the safety of everyone involved’ and there is no ‘explosive risk’ at the address in Pairk Beg.

On Sunday 61 homes were evacuated in Port Erin following the discovery of ‘suspicious items’; armed police were also seen in Creggan Lea in Port St Mary.

People are being urged not to speculate about the circumstances of the incident.

A spokesperson for the Isle of Man Constabulary said: “At this stage we are conducting further enquires including utilising specialist search officers, and we are grateful for the support of a number of partner agencies who are assisting.”

Anyone who has any concerns about suspicious activity can contact Police Headquarters or Crimestoppers.
