Onchan Commissioners up the village rate by 1.5 per cent

Change will impact ratepayers from April

Onchan Commissioners have chosen to increase the village rates by 1.5 per cent.

The change will impact on ratepayers from April, meaning the new amount will be 323 pence in the pound.

Lead member for finance, commissioner Martin Macfarlane says the authority is in a 'healthy financial position', and wishes to maintain its current level of services.

The rise is to 'offset inflation and costs passed on from central government'.

Capital projects such as improved access to facilities, and a public toilet refurbishment scheme have been included in the budget, as well as a rolling programme of maintenance.

A prompt payment discount of four per cent is offered by Onchan Commissioner, if rates are paid in full by 30 June.
