CM to receive report on issue next week
A Tynwald committee has heard how civil servants were asked to manage the risk posed by Steam Packet crew at the start of the pandemic.
The chief minister says keeping the ferry running was an early priority to ensure a continued supply of oxygen during the initial Covid outbreak last year.
Today (28 April) Howard Quayle told the Public Accounts Committee officers were left to come up with procedures to mitigate risk, and communicate with the Steam Packet.
He says the issue of mixing between UK and Island-based crew only became apparent later.
A review into the issue is being undertaken by the Treasury's internal audit team, which the chief minister says he's due to receive next week.
