Nominations open for General Election

Candidates have until 25 August to submit form

People wishing to be Members of the House of Keys can submit their election forms from today.

Nominations open at 10am and will close at 1pm next Wednesday, 25 August.

Prospective candidates need to submit a nomination form and declaration of relevant interests to their constituency returning officer during the period.

The nomination paper requires the signature of a proposer, seconder and at least 20 other constituents.

After nominations close, each constituency returning officer will meet with the prospective candidates between 1pm and 2pm to determine if papers are valid.

If a person's forms are valid, they become a candidate.

People wishing to stand for election must be over the age of 18, a British citizen or have the right to remain in the Island, a registered elector, have lived in the Isle of Man for at least five years, and not be disqualified.
