New beach clean event for Arbory

Hopes for more litter-pick events in the parish

A new type of beach cleaning event takes place next month when Beach Buddies teams up with Arbory Parish Commissioners.

The clean-up will take place at Pooil Vaaish on the morning of Saturday 16th June.

Arbory Commissioners say they recognise the fantastic work done by Beach Buddies and decided to help by organising an event to attract more volunteers from the Parish.

As an incentive, the Commissioners are giving away free litter pickers for people to keep and offering them a free lunch at the Colby Chapel Cafe after the event.

Numbers will be limited to 50 so volunteers will need to book a place rather than simply turning up. Interested parties should contact Jane Glover on 492 010 or email janeglover68@gmail.com by 10th June at the latest.

Lunches will also need to be pre ordered.

The session will get underway at 10.30 and finish at midday, with refreshments being served at Colby Methodist chapel.

The Commissioners have also committed to emptying bins for Beach Buddies in the parish - a job the charity has previously done itself - and they hope the event will be the start of regular litter picks in the Parish at which participants can reuse their litter pickers.
