Minister optimistic over elm tree meeting

Boot says landowner may be 'receptive' to alternative plan

The environment minister says the owner of the land where trees in St Marks are due to be felled may be receptive to an alternative plan.

Geoffrey Boot is set to meet with John Day on Friday.

As landowner he has been given permission to remove the elm trees on Braaid Road – something which has sparked public outrage.

Speaking to Manx Radio Mr Boot says he feels changes are possible:

The chief minister has passed on his 'best wishes' for the talks.

However Howard Quayle said he isn't as closely involved in the dispute as some on social media believe:
