Minister hopes to see ANPR impact

Technology will target those who don't pay road tax

The infrastructure minister believes having equipment to catch those who don't pay their road tax will make a significant difference.

Automatic Number Plate Recognition cameras are to be used around the Island to identify those who haven't purchased a vehicle licence.

Those caught driving an untaxed or unregistered vehicle face a fine of up to £2,000.

Ray Harmer admits he wanted to introduce the technology sooner:

The department says these funds go towards numerous things to benefit the community, including pothole repair, hedge and grass cutting and cycleway design.
