Temporary lamb limit for Meat Plant

Situation will improve when weather cools says Minister

There are more problems for Manx farmers on top of the current drought.

The hot weather in the UK has put a temporary limit to the intake of lambs at the Island's Meat Plant.

A number of factors associated with the current warm weather has driven down the UK lamb price, making it uneconomic  for the Manx Plant to accept them.

It's understood the Meat Plant has informed local producers about this measure being taken and has apologised for having to make the decision at such short notice.

Environment Minister, Geoffrey Boot, says the price should rise when the weather turns cooler and we get some rain.
