June sitting of Tynwald

31 questions and 21 items on order paper

Tynwald sits this morning (Tues 19).

There are 21 items on the order paper and 31 questions tabled - 23 of which are for oral answer.

Eleven of those questions have been tabled by Garff MHK Daphne Caine, many of which relate to her former role as Children's Champion.

Other questions concern road safety promotion costs, the potential banning of mobile phones from schools, the use of bodycams by police and the future of the Enterprise Development Scheme.

Members will debate several reports, including the progress of Alf Cannan's SAVE programme.

The Social Affairs Policy Review Committee features heavily, with discussion around the adequacy of nursery place provision, and a broadening of the committee's remit investigating historical child abuse.

University students could be set to benefit - as it's proposed the interest rates charged to loans could be halved from 5% to 2.5%.

You can listen to all that and more from 10.30am, live on AM 1368, on the online AM player and via the usual smartphone apps.
