Islanders still losing thousands in scams

Names of local organisations used as cover

People on the Island are still losing thousands of pounds in scams.

Police have taken to Facebook recently to offer advice to members of the public to try and prevent them becoming victims.

Inspector Gavin Callow says scammers can be very sophisticated and believable, often using the cover of local companies or organisations to falsely suggest small amounts of money are owed.

Police say you should NEVER give your banking details over the phone, always verify who you're talking to if unsure, and ring back on a separate phone line.
