Island experiences sunniest spring on record

It's also the driest spring since 1984

It's officially been the sunniest spring on record for the Isle of Man, and also one of the driest.

May alone, with 301 hours of sunshine, was the third sunniest on record narrowly behind May 1980.

Records, which began in 1948, show a typical spring on the Island would see just over 500 hours of sunshine.

Throughout March, April and May there were 694.1 hours of bright sunshine, surpassing the spring record set in 1975 by 63.5 hours.

Meanwhile, the Island experienced only 78.7mm of rain, well below the long term average of 172mm.
