Pay and protections secured

A union and the Isle of Man Post Office have reached an agreement over staff pay, and terms and conditions.

It follows protracted negotiations between management and the Communication Workers' Union, which have twice seen its members go on strike.

The more than 200 CWU members who work for the Isle of Man Post Office have backed the deal by an 89% majority, following a ballot this week.

CWU Deputy General Secretary Postal Terry Pullinger says they've accepted a two-year consolidated pay deal – fully backdated to April 2018.

In addition, he says they've secured existing voluntary redundancy protections and mutually agreed ‘buyouts’ involving significant lump sums in terms of allowances and leave accrual.
