Howard Quayle has tested positive for Covid-19

News announced at government media briefing

It's been confirmed Chief Minister Howard Quayle has tested positive for Covid-19.

The news was announced at this afternoon's Isle of Man Government coronavirus press briefing.

Health Minister David Ashford read out a statement on Mr Quayle's behalf:

Mr Ashford previously revealed the chief minister had been self-isolating at home after experiencing 'minor symptoms'.

At that time, the minister said Mr Quayle maintained "full control of government," before outlining contingency plans relating to the chain of command should any of the council of ministers fall ill.

Isle of Man Government says since the last update at ten o'clock this morning, there have been 19 further confirmed positive tests for coronavirus.

The total number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the Isle of Man now stands at 190.

In total, 177 patients have been instructed to self-isolate and 12 are being treated at the hospital.

The contact tracing process is already underway led by Public Health.

There have been 1,751 concluded tests, 128 people are awaiting results and 56 people are awaiting tests.

In total, 92 individuals are now "presumed recovered," government says.

To date, there has been one death caused by the coronavirus in the Isle of Man.
