Family Library blames financial pressures for closure, not lack of planning

Charity to shut in July despite government funding deal, citing £100,000 annual shortfall and unsustainable long-term model

The Family Library says its upcoming closure is the result of a difficult financial climate - not poor planning.

The charity, which has served the Isle of Man for 14 years, is set to close its doors at the end of July.

In 2022, the government agreed a five-year funding deal with support decreasing year-on-year, giving the charity time to explore long-term options.

Estimates suggest several thousand residents could be affected by the closure.
