Victim was pushed to ground after argument on Market Street
A court’s heard a drunken Douglas man pushed a woman to the ground during an argument outside a taxi office.
Fifty-nine-year-old Brian Mark Corlett, of Ballamillaghyn, appeared at Douglas Courthouse.
He admitted assaulting the woman on Market Street in Douglas on 29 May.
Witnesses called police shortly before 2.30am after seeing Corlett and the woman shouting at each other.
During the argument Corlett raised his hand and pushed the woman over outside Elegance Taxis.
Staff told him to leave and called police who later found him on Crellin’s Hill – when he was arrested he told officers the woman had assaulted him first.
After hearing Corlett had no previous convictions, Deputy High Bailiff James Brooks said the incident was "drink in, sense out".
Corlett was fined £600 and ordered to pay £100 compensation as well as £125 towards prosecution costs.
