Boot insists planners followed correct procedures
The Environment, Food and Agriculture Minister is set to meet on Friday with those behind controversial plans to axe 25 elm trees on the Braaid Road in St Marks.
In front of a packed public gallery, for this morning's sitting House of Keys, Geoffrey Boot told members the only way to stop the felling is through negotiations with the applicants or through a petition of doleance.
He says planners had followed the correct procedures and would be inappropriate for him to interfere with an approved application:
One of the reasons given for approval of the application was to 'improve road safety'.
