Police called to reports of people camping without permission
Damage to one of the Island's nature reserves will not be tolerated according to the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture.
Police were called to the Ayres National Nature Reserve twice over the weekend, to reports of people breaking byelaws around camping in the area.
It was announced last week that people could stay in their motorhomes in the Smeale recreational area, but permission must be sought beforehand.
DEFA says the reserve is one of the most biodiverse areas on the Island, and anyone using it must follow the law, or face fines of up to £5,000.
Anyone wishing to stay at the Ayres can get permission via ecopolicy.gov.im.
