Covid-19 school mitigations to be discussed at new CoMin

Edge says she was 'very vocal' about issue as backbencher

Mitigations to try and stop Covid-19 spreading in schools will need to be discussed by the new Council of Ministers.

That's the view of the new education minister.

Julie Edge was appointed to the position on Friday – the same day Ballakermeen High School revealed it would be asking two year groups to study at home this week.

Year 10 pupils at the school will study at home on Monday and Tuesday with year nine pupils doing the same between Wednesday and Friday.

The school has said due to 'respiratory illnesses' it has very high levels of staff absence and can't put a teacher in every classroom.

Ms Edge says it's something that will have to be discussed:
