Consultation on changes to organ donation reaches halfway mark

Hundreds of responses

Hundreds of responses have been submitted to a consultation on changes to the Island's organ donation law, which has now reached the halfway stage.

MHK Martyn Perkins is looking to introduce an 'opt-out'  rather than 'opt-in' system via a private members bill.

Currently eleven people on the Island are awaiting transplants, whilst 55 have travelled to the UK in the last five years for them.

Mr Perkins says MHKs are lucky to be able to pursue law changes through private members bills.

The consultation closes on the 8 June and to submit your views you can head online to the government's website
