Hopes remaining surfacing works will be completed on Friday
The northern section of the Mountain Road will not reopen on Friday afternoon (17 April) as previously expected.
The Department of Infrastructure has confirmed that 'extended periods of, at times, torrential rain on the mountain has disrupted resurfacing works'.
As a result, the remaining surfacing will be completed by Friday 'if conditions allow'.
However, the new asphalt will need to cure overnight, with lining on Saturday morning (18 April), aiming to reopen on Saturday afternoon.
The new time frame is said to be 'very much weather dependent'.
Another update will be issued on Friday when it is expected that the position will be clearer.
