Busy sitting of Tynwald

Pensions, climate change and Sea Services to be discussed

Climate change and public sector pensions are among some of the topics up for discussion at this months sitting of Tynwald which gets underway this morning (19).

In keeping with recent student strikes on climate action, reports will be given from Manx Utilities and the Department of Infrastructure and a statement made by the Environment Minister on a new Climate Change Mitigation strategy.

Health Minister David Ashford is asking for four million pound extra for the Department of Health and Social Care's budget.

And Home Affairs Minister, Bill Malarkey will ask for an additional one and a half million pounds for his department.

Chair of Manx Utilities, Dr Alex Allinson, looks for Tynwald to approve a request of twenty-three-and-a-half million pounds for the construction of the Sewage Treatment Works in Peel, Laxey and Baldrine.

Members will be asked to approve the key terms of the Sea Services Agreement negotiated between the Department of Infrastructure and the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company Limited.

And finally, Tanya August-Hanson MLC will move for the creation of a youth parliament for the Isle of Man.
