Ashford keen to end DHSC bullying culture

Health Minister says it's time to deliver real change

A culture of bullying became ingrained in the health department over a period of decades, according to Minister David Ashford.

It comes after Tynwald members unanimously voted for a radical shakeup of the Island's healthcare system.

Not a single person in the chamber voted against accepting Sir Jonathan Michael's independent review or any of the 26 recomendations contained within it.

Establishing an independent regulatory body and separating political governence from operational decision making are two suggestions that were made in the review.

An independent team in the Cabinet Office will now be taking responsibility for implementing change at the DHSC.
