Broadway junction closes for five weeks for prom works

Traffic lights to be removed; new pedestrian crossing

The Broadway junction is to close for five weeks as part of the Douglas promenade refurbishment works.

Work is to start two weeks on Monday - 30 September.

The busy junction for daily commuters will be closed off to drivers, for what we're told will be a maximum of five weeks - meaning it'll reopen by Monday, 4 November.

The work taking place is to remove the traffic lights, islands and what's called 'street furniture'.

There will also be a new pedestrian crossing created.

Once the section reopens, in lieu of the traffic lights there will be a simple 'stop' sign and you'll be able to once again turn right onto the prom.

However, it's not clear when the left turn will be reinstated at this stage.

Diversions will be signposted for drivers.
