Parents raise concerns over lack of information about new primary school dinners menus
A parent of a child with diabetes says she's worried about the safety of her child after the introduction of new menus at primary schools across the Island.
While the move itself was generally supported, some have raised concerns about the portion sizes, availability of options and the quality of the food that's been issued.
Having a breakdown of the nutritional values of the food is crucial for those with the disease so they can administer the right amount of insulin.
Amy Griffiths has this report:
In response, the Department of Education, Sport and Culture says: "The Department of Education, Sport and Culture is pleased to see the introduction of a refreshed primary school menu, developed in response to feedback from both parents and pupils.
"We are listening carefully to concerns and remain committed to providing healthy, nutritious meals that cater to a range of needs. The menu will continue to evolve to ensure all pupils are properly nourished and enjoy their school meals."
