400 students collect results today
Provisional A-Level results provided by the the Department of Education, Sport and Culture show an overall pass rate of 98% for the 400 students who've received their results today.
The figure relates to grades A* to E.
For students achieving grades A* to B the pass rate is 48%, and the corresponding figure for A* to C grades stands at 76%.
The Department says early indications show around two thirds of students have applied for a university course, either at UCM or further afield, with around 30% of 18 year old school leavers planning to enter the workforce.
The data relates to the Department's five secondary schools.
Education Minister Daphne Caine says: “I want to congratulate all students who have received their results today. You should be proud of your achievements and the skills you have developed along the way.
“I want to emphasise that there are plenty of opportunities available to you, whatever your grades. Whether you are planning to go to university, take up an apprenticeship, enter the workforce, or explore other options, you will find a path that suits your interests and aspirations.
“My thanks go out to the dedicated school staff and parents for their support.”
Students will be able to take advantage of drop-in sessions with qualified careers advisers throughout the summer holidays.
