#MRWomenToday listen again: Zoe Thompson on Coats for Calais

On the programme today: -

- we were joined in the studio by Zoe Thompson from the Manx Support Refugees Group, who came in to tell us about the Care for Calais Coats Campaign. We also talked about what it means to be a refugee and Zoe eloquently answered listeners’ questions about, for instance, why we should consider sending charity away from home and whether or not refugees really need our help. If you’d like to donate coats to the appeal, you have until Saturday (20th), they can be dropped into Noa Bakehouse, Mother T’s in Laxey, Edward Bryan Removals, or to the homes of volunteers at 22 Scarlett Road Castletown, 21 Ashgrove in Ramsey and 4 Ballacubbon in Ballabeg. Follow the Facebook group for more information, and use the hashtags below.

- also today, as news emerged that Tameside Hospital has banned all sugary drinks and snacks from vending machines and hospital cafes, we asked if you thought Nobles should do the same?

- we looked back at the life of Cranberries singer and songwriter Dolores O’Riordan who died suddenly at the age of just 46 yesterday

- and we heard about one Indian restaurant in Portsmouth that’s taken the word take-away to the extreme, hiring a private charter plane to bring 170 dishes to 40 hungry, curry-loving expats in Bordeaux France.

If you missed any part of the show, you can listen again at this link for the next 7 days.

Tomorrow, we meet a woman who was inspired by a 6 month course on DigitalMums.com to start a new venture promoting the Island she loves. Tune in from 2pm!
