On Air After Hours Dave Moore | 10:00pm - Midnight

#MRWomenToday listen again: Young Farmers; JLS's JB on the farm; mesmerism; gifting weddings

On the programme today: -

- we were joined in the studio by Hayley Crowe, Federation Secretary for the Young Farmers IOM, a wonderful organisation for ages 10 to 36 that organises events and social activities that aren't just fun, but they also offer opportunities to learn important life skills (and it's not just for farmers!). It's their National Week starting on Monday, with a whole range of free activities and events ranging from outdoor cinema and laserblast through to bingo and treasure hunts; to find out more, visit their Facebook page here, or email iomyoungfarmers@outlook.com

- we spoke with Wendy Moore, author of critically acclaimed books The Knifeman, Wedlock and How To Create the Perfect Wife. Wendy is visiting the Island as part of Manx Litfest next week, she will be meeting pupils from Ballakermeen and St Ninian’s High Schools on Friday, before leading two workshops on writing, researching and publishing non-fiction on the Saturday. As Wendy says "The focus will be on how to turn an idea into a potential book, how to transform that book into a reality and how to get the book into print with hands-on exercises and time for questions." - a great opportunity for any new writers. To find out more, visit the Manx Litfest website or visit Wendy's website here

- we heard from former XFactor star and member of JLS, 'JB', who is now a farmer in Kent and hosts a BAFTA-nominated CBeebies programme 'Down On The Farm'; he was chatting along with Steve Livens from the British Beer and Pub Association about a new initiative created as part of British Food Fortnight, to celebrate British ingredients and local agriculture; find out more at the Beer For That website here;

- and we asked how much (if at all) you would pay to attend your friend of family member's wedding - as one couple charges their guests £150 to attend theirs, saying they couldn't afford it otherwise.

If you missed the show, you can listen again at this link for the next 7 days.
