#MRWomenToday listen again: sign language, equality at the Emmys and the abortion consultation

On the programme today: -

- we were joined in the studio by Lucy Buxton from the Manx Deaf Society who came in to tell us about British Sign Language classes and visual aids for people with partial hearing, such as crucial daily items like doorbells and fire alarm systems. There will be a video online this evening with Lucy demonstrating those items, so do check our Facebook page. If you would like to take part in the BSL classes, email Lucy at iomdeafsociety@gmail.com, or you can phone / text 202875, or write to The Manx Deaf Society, 3 Somerset Road, Douglas IM2 5AD. They are also on Facebook here.

- we were also joined by Chris Cave from the news team, who came in to summarise the debate surrounding the suggested reformation of the Island's abortion laws; if you want to have a say, you have until midnight tonight to take part in the public consultation, which you will find at this link. NB: you can opt on whether you would like your views to be made public or not.

- we also looked back at last night's Emmy Awards, which celebrated equality, diversity and British talent, with The Handmaid's Tale taking home 5 awards, and wins for Charlie Brooker's Black Mirror, John Oliver's satirical Last Week Tonight and Riz Ahmed for The Night Of;

- we heard from 'ladies in gin' and female business entrepreneurs Camilla Brown and Liz Bezwick, who have taken their drink to the next level with the creation of their somewhat tongue-in-perfectly-ageing-cheek product 'CollaGin'; you can find out more about them and their business by visiting their website;

- and we had a look at Andy Murray's impassioned article for the BBC about women in sport and gender inequality

If you missed the show, you can listen again at this link for the next 7 days.

Tomorrow, we are joined by Josie Corrin, Director of Pastoral Care and Wellbeing at Ramsey Grammar School. Join us from 2pm!
