#MRWomenToday listen again: Alison Lester and the Lego Professionals!

We were joined on the show today by Alison Lester, Head of People and Organisational Development at Hospice, who came it to tell us about this year’s Volunteer Recruitment Event. It takes place on Feb 24th at the Sefton Hotel – you can see all the details on the flyer below, and there is a clip of Alison explaining more on our portal page (also below);

- also today, in light of the fact that wonderful organisations such as the Great Ormond Street Hospital have now refused funds raised for them at the controversial President’s Club Event (after the shocking news stories emerged of harassment at the high profile, men-only event), we asked if it’s right that the Charities suffer because of the donors behaviour? Many listeners were very vocal about all aspects of this story!

- we heard a wonderful poem from Ian McMillan celebrating #VillageHallsWeek and asked what your favourite hall on the Island is; listeners regailed us with some wonderful stories of their own events and experiences in their local halls and historian Peter Kelly even sent us details of the most important historic halls around the Island;

- speaking of poems, Howard Caine helped us mark Burns Night with a wonderful rendition of (part of) the Scottish poet’s Address To A Haggis;

- and, as the world’s most iconic toy celebrates it’s 60th birthday this weekend, Christy spoke with the UK’s only certified Lego Professional Duncan Titmarsh, and Chiara Biscontin, who is part of the Lego Friends group; check out the size of the Tower Bridge Lego model that Duncan built for Land Rover below..!

If you missed any part of today's show, you can listen again at this link for the next 7 days. Tomorrow, Christy will be joined on the Conister Rock by Howard Parkin. Tune in from 2pm to hear the Star Man share his music and memories.
