#MRWomenToday listen again: Alcoholics Anonymous

We were joined in the studio today by two extraordinary women, Lindsay and Rebecca, who shared their powerful stories about dealing with alcohol addiction and the life saving support they have received as members of Alcoholics Anonymous.

Both women, who describe themselves as 'ordinary mums', found themselves on the absolute brink and - somehow - managed to make the all important call to AA. They talked us through their journeys with humbling honesty and sensitivity, giving a real insight in to what it really means to be a recovering alcoholic, the effects it has had on their lives and their families and how the 12 Step Programme continues to help them to remain sober.

If you were affected by anything you heard on the show today, you can call 0800 917 7650 (freephone); you can also find out about the facilities offered by AA on their website here. There are five meetings a week on the Isle of Man alone and, with over 4400 meetings a week in GB too, they remain the number 1 recovery service for alcohol addiction. Members can travel to over 180 countries in the world knowing that AA is available - as is a 'normal life' without the want or need for alcohol.

There is also a new chat facility on the AA website, for those that prefer that to use that method of contact:

If you missed any part of the programme, you can listen again at this link for the next 7 days. And you can see a short clip from the programme via Youtube below (please note: camera remains static to preserve the guests' anonymity)

Tomorrow, we are on the Conister Rock, sharing music and memories with John 'Dog' Callister. Hope you can join us from 2pm!
