Manx gymnasts to compete at Inter Island competition in Aland

Isle of Man one of ten Island nations to compete there this week

Isle of Man Gymnastics have begun their journey to take part in an international competition this week.

After setting off from the Island yesterday (2 July), 23 Manx gymnasts are set to take part in the Inter Island Gymnastics Competition in Aland, being held from 4-8 July.

The Isle of Man will be one of ten Island nations to compete there.

As it's not an official games event, it allows junior athletes to take part in their own competitions as preparation for the likes of future Island Games.

Gymnastics is not featuring in the 2023 Island Games in Guernsey which are scheduled from 8-14 July.

IoM Gymnastics Team Manager, Helen Duggan, explains how much her team is looking forward to the latest challenge:
