Golf: Defending champions among IoM Championship semi-finalists

It follows men's and ladies quarter-finals last night (22 June)

The defending men's and women's Isle of Man Golf Championships title-holders are among those who've progressed to this evening's semi-finals of the 2023 competition.

The last-eight ties in for both were held at Ramsey Golf Club last night (22 June).

In the men's contest, current champion Robert Noon defeated eight-time winner Julian Sutton by a score of six to five.

Elsewhere, another previous champion in Peter Glover progressed after a hard-fought battle with Ramsey's Danny Foulis whilst Castletown's Gerald Bradley fought back against Lewis Howland to win.

The other remaining men's tie between Brian Duggan and Paul Lowey went down to the wire and required extra holes to separate the two, with Duggan eventually emerging victorious after 21 holes.

Meanwhile in the women's class, defending champion Kayleigh Dawson was pushed all the way by Island Games teammate Lynda Simpson in their quarter-final, with Dawson snatching the win on the last hole.

Dawson will face Emma Noon in the next stage as Noon managed to overcome Rowany's Diane Neale.

In the other two ladies fixtures, Tilly Davies was able to edge out fellow Ramsey member, Joy Morris, by a score of three and one whilst Shirley Price won by the same scoreline against Lindsay Tickell of Douglas in a repeat of the 2018 final.

The semi-finals for both competitions will take place this evening, with play getting underway at 5pm.
